ABSTRACT
The present work aims to present, through the hexadecimal analysis, the result obtained in the search for traces of manipulations in audio files. Voice files were manipulated with tools that perform this procedure for later hexadecimal analysis, in which information was sought on the metadata of the edited files. The hexadecimal analysis is based on identifying the possible changes that audio manipulation tools can promote when used to edit, maliciously or otherwise, voice files. With the original audios and audio acquisition devices, after controlled modifications in the original files, comparisons were made between the different hexadecimal contents of the recordings. Currently, the file formats most widely used by audio aquision equipment are the following: MP3 (MPEG Layer 3), M4A (MPEG-4) and WAV (WAVEform audio format); due to their extensive use, only these audio formats were analyzed at the present work. The results obtained through the analysis made possible to guarantee the identification of traces of edition according to the methodology used.
